Become a Member Agency

Becoming a Foodbank member food provider enables you to more effectively and efficiently support low-income people in your community - and makes it possible for your program to increase resources needed to feed hungry people in your area. River Bend Foodbank not only provides your agency with a variety of nutritious shelf stable and fresh foods, we can also offer you technical assistance in food distribution and food safety education.

Criteria for Membership

The following criteria must be met to be eligible for membership in the River Bend Foodbank. Membership is open to programs providing food packages or meals such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school feeding programs, senior centers, substance abuse rehabilitation programs and disability rehabilitation programs.

1. Your program is an established feeding program or food distributor for low-income people.
2. Your program is a tax-exempt organization as described in the 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. Treasury Department. A copy of the 501(c)(3) must be provided.
3. Your program does not operate out of a personal residence.
4. Your community food program serves the poor, ill and needy or homeless free of any charges.
5. Your food program does not and will not sell or barter items.
6. Your food program provides food free to all clients. Clients are not asked for donations or requested to participate in religious services to receive food.
7. Your food program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious beliefs, age, disabilities, sex or sexual preference.
8. Your program has guidelines for distribution of the food and a record keeping system.
9. Your food program maintains high standards of sanitation and food safety with regards to food storage, distribution and meal preparation.
10. Your program is willing to have its sites visited as needed by a representative of the River Bend Foodbank.
11. Your program agrees to provide the Foodbank with necessary information regarding any change in program/administrative location, primary staffing, structure etc. in a timely manner.
12. Your program practices active means of encouraging participation and utilization of your feeding program to all segments of the community.

Shared Maintenance Fees

River Bend Foodbank operates with the support of member agencies who contribute a shared maintenance fee for the donated product they receive. "Shared Maintenance" is a handling fee determined by pounds of food received. The range is $0.00- $0.18 per pound for food.
