Faith, Food, and a Fresh Start

Posted December 17, 2025

Timothy is a resident at the Galesburg Rescue Mission, a River Bend Food Bank hunger-relief partner that provides food, shelter, and support to individuals in need. He arrived last May, and just a few months later began earning extra money working at the Mission.

Timothy helps pack and distribute food boxes for the community, and he sees his work as a meaningful way to give back to his neighbors. He’s grateful that he can live, worship, and serve others all through the Galesburg Rescue Mission.

“I wanted to serve, and this is the way to do it as well as covering my basic needs,” he says. “Plus, I’m a man of faith, so I get to hear the Word every day, which is fantastic for me.”

He also sees his service as a way to help empower his neighbors to make their lives better. “When your stomach’s not growling, you can focus better on other things and get things done,” he says.

Thanks to your support, neighbors like Timothy have a way to move forward … and can find purpose through serving others. We’re so grateful!
