Micaela Booth has served as the director of Birdies for Charity, the charitable arm of the John Deere Classic, for a little over four years now. She leads the program, working directly with nonprofits like River Bend Food Bank to generate contributions through one-time pledges or donations.
Since 1993, Birdies for Charity has helped nearly 500 nonprofits build support and funding surrounding the excitement of the John Deere Classic annual golf tournament. The program also promises a bonus of at least 5% — and up to 10% — on all donations each organization raises. Talk about bang for your buck!
But the partnership between River Bend Food Bank and Birdies for Charity goes way back — about 20 years. Micaela believes the Food Bank’s shared commitment to serving their community underscores how closely their mission aligns with Birdies for Charity.
“Our mission is really rooted in improving the quality of life in our community, which I think aligns perfectly with what River Bend Food Bank is doing and what their efforts are — to fight hunger.”
