We Need Your Support This Summer

As the days get longer and the weather warms up, thoughts naturally turn to the upcoming break. Vacations, pool days, picnics, and freedom from the school bell are just ahead!

That freedom from the routine of school is great, unless you have children who rely on accessing free and reduced-price meal programs at school. Many families are figuring out how to provide enough food for three meals a day — and snacks! — during the months breakfasts and lunches are no longer at school. And the recent cuts to SNAP and Medicaid left more families feeling unsure of how they’ll afford what they need.

This issue of Food for Thought focuses on families, and the people who are working to help make summer a little easier for them. However, summer hunger affects more than just families. For many individuals and older neighbors, food insecurity is a year-round issue.

Thanks to your generosity, River Bend Food Bank is here for our neighbors, ready to provide meals for children, families, and older adults. That’s because YOU always rise to the occasion.

As we head into the summer months, I’m grateful for your support. If you’d like to give again, every $1 helps provide 5 meals for someone facing hunger. Thank you for your compassion.

With gratitude,
Chris Ford
President & CEO
